Residential Local Alarms
Safe and Secure has a large range of local alarm systems. Local alarms are the systems installed in the home, typically incorporating motion detectors, mechanical reed switches, sirens and internal infra-red detectors. These alarms are designed to act as deterrents, and are very effective.
Important- Please note: There’s a distinction between a "local alarm system" and a "monitored alarm system". Monitored alarms are directly linked to our control room, and include a range of responses to the alarms directed by the control room operators. Local alarm components:
Motion detectors
Motion detectors are designed to cover roof and glass entry into the home. This is called “volume protection”, covering large areas of the home. They are also available for outdoor protection and can be installed in strategic areas like an enclosed yard which needs to be protected.
Security system keypads
These keypads are the controls points for your security system. They allow you to manage alarms, turn them off and on, and also monitor the system to make sure it’s functioning correctly. Security system keypads also let you activate emergency duress alarms immediately.

More than half of all burglars literally come in through the doors. If that’s not possible, the windows are the next choice. Door and window reed switches secure these access points and connect to an alarm system. This is called a “perimeter” system. When closed, the door or window circuit is secure. When opened, the circuit is broken and an alarm activates.
Alarm sirens
Local alarms are designed to be loud and attract attention. That’s a good way of scaring off burglars, and getting responses from the neighbors. Intruders can’t do anything about an alarm, and they have to assume someone’s already phoning the police. These alarms are very effective deterrents.
